Sarovar Hotels, one of India’s leading hotel chains, has launched the Serene Sarovar Premiere Hargeisa, the first branded 5-star international hotel in Somaliland. The opening marks a major milestone for the country’s hospitality sector while strengthening Sarovar’s presence in East Africa, where it already operates in Kenya.
Located in the capital city of Hargeisa, the 134-key hotel blends modern comforts with Sarovar’s signature hospitality. It features multiple dining options, a wellness centre, a swimming pool, and expansive conferencing facilities for up to 800 guests. Designed as a Sharia-compliant property, it caters to both cultural sensitivities and global service expectations.
Ajay Bakaya, Chairman, Sarovar Hotels & Director, Louvre Hotels India, said: “This landmark property reflects our commitment to high-potential emerging markets and strengthens our connect with both African and Gulf travellers.”
Abikarem Mohamed, Managing Director, Upper Hill Hotels, added: “This launch is not just about a hotel—it is about placing Somaliland on the global tourism and business map.”
With this debut, Sarovar Hotels further consolidates its expansion strategy across East Africa and the Gulf region, positioning itself as one of the fastest-growing hotel management companies in the continent.
