Puneet Chhatwal, MD and CEO of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), emphasized the resilience of the tourism, hospitality, and aviation sectors in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. Speaking at the IIM Nagpur convocation, he highlighted how the industries must rally together to restore business in Kashmir and beyond.
Chhatwal stated that crises often present opportunities for innovative strategies, but stability is crucial for sustained growth. He underscored the need for collaboration among sectors to rebuild confidence and revitalize tourism in affected regions once the situation normalizes.
In addition, Chhatwal unveiled ambitious expansion plans for Taj Hotels, with properties slated to open in Frankfurt, Bahrain, Mecca, Riyadh, and Bhutan. He also announced two upcoming Taj hotels in Nagpur and a resort at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district.
The comments come as the region recovers from disruptions following military operations in response to the Pahalgam attack, emphasising the importance of unity and innovation to overcome challenges and foster growth in the hospitality sector.
