Luxury resort Trisara Phuket is deepening its focus on marine conservation and environmental stewardship through long-term efforts to protect sea turtle nesting grounds along Mai Khao Beach, while preparing to launch a new Marine Discovery Centre by 2027.
A Decade Of Sea Turtle Conservation
Since 2016, the resort has actively participated in the Mai Khao Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Declaration, supporting the protection of endangered marine life along Phuket’s coastline. Over the years, Trisara has helped more than 449 sea turtle hatchlings safely return to the Andaman Sea.
The resort’s clean and low-impact beachfront environment also contributed to a significant conservation milestone in 2018, when green turtles selected the beach for nesting, resulting in eight nests being recorded at the property.
Ongoing efforts continue to focus on preserving natural beach conditions and safeguarding nesting habitats to encourage the return of sea turtles in the future.
Marine Discovery Centre Planned For 2027
As part of its next phase of sustainability initiatives, Trisara is developing a Marine Discovery Centre scheduled to open in 2027. The centre is envisioned as an immersive learning space designed to connect guests more closely with the region’s marine ecosystem through interactive and educational experiences.
The initiative reflects a growing shift within luxury hospitality towards integrating sustainability, conservation awareness and experiential travel.
Recognition For Environmental Leadership
In recognition of its continued environmental efforts, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources honoured Trisara during the 17th Mai Khao Marine Turtle Release event held in April 2026.
The resort’s Chief Experience Officer, Panjama Leamsuwan, received the “Rak Talay Ying Cheep” or “Saving the Sea” medal for contributions towards marine ecosystem preservation and coastal conservation in the Andaman region.
Blending Hospitality With Ecological Awareness
Guests at the resort can currently participate in the “Nature Discovery: Coral to Canopy” programme, designed to offer insight into Phuket’s biodiversity across marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
With conservation now increasingly shaping the future of luxury travel, Trisara’s approach reflects how hospitality brands are moving beyond traditional sustainability practices towards more immersive environmental engagement.
