The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google India Pvt. Ltd. to accelerate the digital promotion of Indian tourism destinations through artificial intelligence, data-driven insights and advanced digital technologies.
The collaboration aims to strengthen the visibility of India’s tourism offerings across domestic and international markets under the Incredible India initiative, with a focus on immersive digital storytelling, targeted outreach and improved traveller engagement.
The MoU establishes a non-commercial, non-binding and non-exclusive framework for cooperation in areas including digital tourism promotion, capacity building, knowledge sharing and use of emerging technologies to enhance visitor experience and destination discoverability.
Under the partnership, Google India will support the Ministry with insights on global travel trends, digital engagement behaviour and traveller preferences to enable more evidence-based tourism promotion strategies. The initiative is also expected to enhance campaign precision and improve outreach efficiency across digital platforms.
As part of the collaboration, the Ministry will receive training and capacity-building support in digital marketing tools, campaign optimisation, content creation and artificial intelligence applications, aimed at strengthening institutional capabilities in modern tourism promotion.
Speaking at the signing, Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said digital technologies have the potential to create immersive experiences that showcase India’s cultural and heritage destinations to a global audience. He noted that the partnership reflects a broader shift towards technology-led tourism development and global positioning of India as a competitive travel destination.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism and representatives from Google India were present at the event, including Preeti Lobana, Country Manager and Vice President, Google India.
