The 2026 edition reveals that the highest-performing hotels continue to distinguish themselves through enduring service culture, strong local identity, and meaningful guest experiences rather than architectural grandeur alone. Heritage properties, independently owned luxury hotels, environmentally integrated resorts, and low-density destinations dominate the upper tier, reflecting evolving traveller expectations around privacy, authenticity, and sense of place.
Beyond its rankings, the report recognises 24 pioneering properties through seven Special Awards that spotlight the future of luxury hospitality. This year’s winners showcase emerging trends including regenerative tourism, climate-responsive architecture, personalised longevity wellness, heritage restoration, ecological conservation, and community-led hospitality.
India features prominently with Tulåh Clinical Wellness in Kerala receiving the Innovation Hotel Award for combining traditional Ayurveda with advanced clinical diagnostics to create personalised preventive wellness programmes.
The report also identifies several macro trends reshaping the global hospitality landscape. Luxury hotels are increasingly investing in intangible assets such as service culture and emotional intelligence, while artificial intelligence is being deployed behind the scenes to improve operational efficiency and allow staff to focus on personalised guest interactions.
