Amadeus Report Reveals Lead Quality as Top Hotel Sales Challenge for 2026
Amadeus Hospitality has released new global research revealing that lead quality and increasing market competition are the biggest barriers to growth for hotel and venue sales teams in 2026.
The findings, published in the Global Hotel Sales Leader Insight Report, are based on a survey of more than 315 hotel and venue sales leaders worldwide. The report highlights key trends shaping group, event, and corporate sales, including the growing role of artificial intelligence, demand for streamlined RFP management, and stronger alignment between commercial teams.
According to the report, 63% of respondents identified qualified demand as the primary growth challenge, while 60% pointed to improving lead quality from third-party channels as a major concern. As planners become more selective and compare more options, hotels are increasingly focused on faster response times, personalization, and stronger differentiation.
The report also found that sales, revenue management, and marketing teams are moving toward more integrated commercial models. More than half of respondents cited sharing account intelligence and demand signals as a top collaboration priority, while 33% emphasized aligning pricing, forecasting, and sales strategy to improve performance.
Corporate meetings emerged as the leading growth opportunity for 2026, with seven out of ten hotel sales leaders ranking the segment as their top business focus. This was followed by social, military, educational, religious, and fraternal (S.M.E.R.F.) events, highlighting the importance of balancing predictable corporate demand with high-touch social business.
The research further underscores the growing importance of speed and simplicity in RFP management. Sales leaders identified consolidating inquiries across fragmented channels and qualifying leads faster as critical areas for improving conversion rates and reducing operational friction.
Technology expectations are also evolving rapidly. More than half of respondents said ease of use is the most important requirement for hospitality sales technology, followed by connected data systems and workflow automation. The findings suggest that hotel sales teams increasingly prefer solutions that simplify operations and enable more client engagement.
Artificial intelligence is already playing a significant role in hospitality sales strategies, with 86% of respondents reporting active AI usage. Key applications include personalizing proposals, generating market insights, researching prospects, and accelerating lead qualification.
Commenting on the findings, Iain Saxton said, “Hotels today need to move faster, align commercial teams more effectively, and focus on the opportunities most likely to convert. Connected intelligence and simplified workflows are becoming essential drivers of sales performance.”
The report reflects broader shifts across the global hospitality industry as hotels increasingly adopt AI-driven sales strategies, integrated commercial operations, and technology-enabled guest engagement to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
