Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced that its flagship brand, Taj, has been recognised as India’s Strongest Brand across all sectors in the Brand Finance India 100 2026 report, marking the fifth consecutive year the hospitality brand has secured the top position.
According to the report,Taj recorded a 32% increase in brand value to USD 878 million and achieved a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 93.5 out of 100, retaining the highest AAA+ brand strength rating. The report attributes the brand’s continued leadership to high levels of consumer familiarity, preference, and its distinctive service philosophy, popularly known as ‘Tajness’.
Commenting on the recognition, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL, said the achievement reflects the enduring trust guests have placed in the brand over its 120-year history and the commitment of its employees to delivering authentic Indian hospitality.
Founded by Jamsetji Tata in 1903, Taj has grown into a global hospitality brand with a portfolio of 150 hotels across 15 countries, spanning luxury palaces, city hotels, resorts, wildlife lodges, and serviced residences. The company said its expansion continues to be guided by Paathya, IHCL’s ESG+ framework, which focuses on sustainable growth, environmental stewardship, cultural preservation, and community development.
David Haigh, Chairman of Brand Finance, said Taj’s continued leadership reflects the consistency of its brand performance and the strength of its reputation in the Indian market. He added that maintaining high hospitality standards and a distinctive guest experience will remain critical as the brand expands both domestically and internationally.
