Mount Everest Breweries Ltd. appoints Mixologist & Beverage Consultant Shatbhi Basu as an Independent Director

Mount Everest Breweries Ltd., one of the leading breweries in India based in Indore, announced the appointment of Ms. Shatbhi Basu as a Non-Executive Independent Director. Shatbhi Basu is India’s first female bartender, recognized by the President of India and the Ministry of Women and Child Development for her contribution in the field.

Shatbhi Basu brings over 40 years of experience in mixology and beverage consultancy. Her journey and passion for the industry will add a fresh wave of creativity and insight to the board of Mount Everest Breweries Ltd. (MEBL). As an Independent Director, Basu will provide an objective perspective to the Board’s discussions, contributing to effective leadership in the areas of company strategy, performance, and risk management. Basu’s understanding of consumer behaviour and beverage trends will guide MEBL in crafting beer flavours and experiences that resonate with consumers. Additionally, her experience in training and brand advocacy will boost MEBL’s reputation and foster valuable industry relationships.

Shatbhi Basu has a bachelor’s degree in Arts from Osmania University and a Diploma in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Mumbai. She’s the mastermind behind STIR, the country’s first academic institution dedicated to professional bartending and the author of trailblazing books like “The Can’t Go Wrong Book of Cocktails” (1999) and “The Can’t Go Wrong Book of Mocktails” (2020). She has hosted a TV show, “In High Spirits” on NDTV Good Times. She has also worked as a freelance writer for trade and mainstream journals and was the Brand Ambassador for American Whiskeys from 2013 to 2016. In recognition of her exceptional contributions, she was honoured by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, in 2018 and inducted as Keeper of the Quaich in 2022 for her remarkable work in Scotch whisky.
