Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed a Gateway hotel in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), Tamil Nadu, further strengthening its presence in the state’s growing Tier-2 hospitality market. The project will be developed as a greenfield property.
Commenting on the signing, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said that Trichy is emerging as a key market driven by a mix of business, education and religious tourism. She noted that the signing aligns with IHCL’s strategy of expanding in high-growth Tier-2 cities while strengthening its presence along South India’s spiritual tourism circuit.
Strategically located on the Grand Southern Trunk Road, the 176-key Gateway Tiruchirappalli will offer views of the Kaveri River and some of the region’s most prominent landmarks, including the Rockfort Temple, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam and Jambukeswarar Temple at Thiruvanaikaval.
The hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant and a bar. Leisure facilities will include a swimming pool, gym, health club and spa. Catering to the growing demand for events and celebrations, the property will offer over 5,000 sq. ft. of indoor banquet space, meeting rooms and pre-function areas, along with one acre of outdoor lawns for weddings, social events and corporate gatherings.
A. Bagurudeen of Try Alam Hotels Pvt. Ltd. said the partnership with IHCL will help address the rising demand for quality hospitality infrastructure in Tiruchirappalli as the city continues to witness industrial and economic growth.
With this signing, IHCL’s portfolio in Tamil Nadu grows to 33 hotels, including 19 operational properties and 14 under development.
