Commercial LPG prices have increased by around ₹10 per 19-kg cylinder across India, while aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices have risen by ₹6.28 per litre, potentially adding fresh cost pressures for the hospitality and aviation sectors.
The latest revision, effective September 1, reverses two consecutive rounds of price cuts in commercial LPG, during which prices had cumulatively declined by around ₹380 per cylinder.
In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased to ₹2,747.50. Prices in Mumbai have risen by ₹9.50 to ₹2,701 per cylinder, while Kolkata recorded a sharper increase of ₹11.50, taking the price to ₹2,884. In Chennai, commercial LPG prices rose by ₹10.50 to ₹2,916.50 per cylinder.
For hotels, restaurants and other foodservice establishments, commercial LPG remains a key operational input, particularly for kitchen and banquet operations. The latest increase comes amid continued volatility in energy prices linked to geopolitical developments in West Asia.
ATF prices for domestic airlines have also increased to ₹121.28 per litre following a ₹6.28-per-litre hike. Higher fuel costs could add pressure on airline operating economics and, if sustained, may have implications for airfares and travel demand.
The latest hike follows a period of sharp price volatility. Before the two recent rounds of reductions, commercial LPG prices had increased by around ₹1,345 per cylinder across four tranches during the peak of the West Asia crisis.
While the latest increase is relatively modest compared with the cumulative reductions seen in recent months, continued volatility in fuel and energy prices remains a key cost concern for hospitality businesses operating in an increasingly competitive market.
