IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Paix Hospitality LLP to develop a 92-key Holiday Inn Resort in Sasan Gir, Gujarat. Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2031, the project will mark the brand’s entry into the wildlife tourism destination.
Located in Gujarat’s Gir Somnath district, Sasan Gir is the only natural habitat of the Asiatic lion and an established destination for wildlife tourism. IHG is looking to tap the market’s leisure travel potential with the planned resort, which will cater to holidaymakers as well as weddings and social events.
The property will have 92 rooms, including 11 suites, and five food and beverage outlets. Its event infrastructure will comprise 1,366 sq. m. of meeting and event space across four venues, including a 1,170 sq. m. ballroom. Other facilities will include a swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and retail outlets.
The signing is part of IHG’s strategy to expand its presence across India’s leisure markets and destinations with growing tourism demand.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said Sasan Gir offered an opportunity to extend the Holiday Inn Resort brand into a distinctive leisure market in Gujarat. He added that the destination’s natural appeal and growing interest in experiential travel made it a strategic addition to the company’s expansion plans.
Kuldipsinh Ghoghubha Jadeja of Paix Hospitality LLP said the project would mark the company’s entry into the hospitality sector. The partnership with IHG would support its plan to develop a resort combining accommodation, dining and facilities for weddings and social gatherings.
IHG said its global distribution network, operating systems and IHG One Rewards loyalty programme would support the property’s positioning in the market.
