MakeMyTrip has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism to offer more than 350 guided tours across over 60 cities, bringing local guides and destination experts onto the travel platform.
The tours will be available for booking on MakeMyTrip from August 15, with the catalogue expected to expand further. The partnership aims to improve traveller access to curated local experiences while giving guides, local experts and communities greater visibility within India’s tourism ecosystem.
“Our guides, local experts and communities are the backbone of India’s tourism value chain. This partnership gives them an opportunity to reach travellers directly and share India’s stories,” said Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Tourism & Culture.
The initiative also seeks to encourage travellers to engage more deeply with destinations through guided experiences rather than limiting visits to conventional sightseeing.
Rajesh Magow, Executive Director & Group CEO, MakeMyTrip, said the partnership puts guides and local experts at the centre of the experience while creating opportunities to showcase these offerings through curated and user-generated content.
The collaboration comes as travel platforms increasingly expand beyond accommodation and transport bookings into experiential tourism, with guided tours, local activities and community-led experiences becoming an important part of the digital travel ecosystem.
