SaffronStays, the luxury vacation home platform, has launched its newest boutique retreat—Araqila—a striking coastal sanctuary in the heart of Sindhudurg’s Aravali region. Just 45 minutes from Goa’s MOPA airport, Araqila marks the brand’s entry into the high-end boutique resort segment, while spotlighting one of India’s most overlooked coastal treasures.
Spread across 55 acres of pristine Konkan coastline, Araqila is more than just a getaway—it’s a return to heritage. Conceptualized by Devendra Parulekar, Founder of SaffronStays, the property draws from his ancestral roots in the region. “Araqila is not just a retreat, it’s a return—a contemporary sea fort, perhaps what the naval geniuses of the Maratha Swaraj would have envisioned in our times,” he said.
Named as a fusion of ‘Ara’ (Aravali) and ‘Qila’ (fort), Araqila embodies quiet strength and timeless peace. Its architecture flows with the natural slope of the land, mirroring the stoic presence of age-old Konkan forts. With no televisions or overt distractions, the experience invites guests to slow down and reconnect—with nature, memory, and self.
The retreat features 25 minimalist, sea-facing suites, an open-air amphitheatre, and direct access to an untouched beach. Sustainability is at its core—built with a low ecological footprint, Araqila sources food locally and supports native plantations, farmers, and fisherfolk.
The culinary philosophy reflects the land it inhabits: fresh seafood, Malvani spices, and hyper-local ingredients take center stage. Every aspect of the retreat is designed to honour the region’s authenticity and resist the noise of modern overindulgence.
“Araqila is my honest and sincere attempt to put Sindhudurg on the world map of luxury tourism,” Parulekar shared. “Over the last decade, we’ve helped redefine Indian vacations. In our next chapter, we want to bring unsung destinations like this to the world stage.”
