The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has achieved a sustainability milestone with five of its Palace properties—Chennai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Bengaluru—earning the prestigious EDGE Advanced Certification by IFC, a member of the World Bank Group. With a certified footprint of 2.41 million sq. ft., The Leela now holds South Asia’s largest EDGE Advanced-certified hotel portfolio.
This recognition strengthens The Leela’s ethos of Mindful Luxury, which blends cultural richness with environmental responsibility. Each certified property exceeded the EDGE Advanced benchmark, delivering over 41% energy savings, 30% water savings, and up to 70% reduction in embodied carbon from materials. Collectively, these initiatives have saved 2,454 tCO₂e emissions.

The certification reflects The Leela’s adoption of advanced HVAC systems, sensor-based lighting, high-performance building envelopes, and low-flow water fixtures, alongside a strategic shift to 50% renewable energy.
Currently, 50% of The Leela’s portfolio is IGBC Platinum-rated and certified Net Zero Waste to Landfill, positioning the brand as a sustainability leader in Indian luxury hospitality.
With this milestone, The Leela reinforces its vision of reimagining Indian luxury for a global audience—where excellence is measured not only in service and style but in impact and responsibility.
