The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality firm, has announced the signing of a greenfield Taj hotel in Pondicherry, marking its entry into one of South India’s most sought-after leisure destinations.
Spanning 52 acres, the 180-key Taj Pondicherry will offer panoramic views of the Bay of Bengal and feature an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty outlets, a bar, and a lounge. Guests will enjoy Taj’s signature J Wellness Circle, a gym, swimming pool, and expansive banqueting facilities, including the region’s largest indoor banquet hall of 10,700 sq. ft. and beachfront lawns for outdoor events.
“Pondicherry has witnessed a steady rise in domestic and foreign travel… The addition of Taj Pondicherry will cater to the growing demand for large-scale social events in the region,” said Ms. Suma Venkatesh, EVP – Real Estate & Development, IHCL.
Partnering with Mr. M.K. Rajagopalan of MGM Healthcare, the project aims to create a landmark destinationblending Taj’s luxury legacy with Pondicherry’s coastal charm and cultural heritage.
