Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has set up a new wholly owned subsidiary to consolidate the ownership, operation and development of luxury hotels and resorts under The Leela brand. The entity, Leela Imperial Suites Private Limited, received its Certificate of Incorporation from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on January 5 and is registered with the Registrar of Companies, Delhi. Operations are expected to commence shortly.
According to regulatory disclosures, the new subsidiary has been established to streamline the group’s luxury hospitality platform, with Leela Palaces holding 100 percent of its share capital through nominee shareholders. The move comes as the company accelerates its expansion plans following its public listing in May.
Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts is owned by Bengaluru-based Schloss Bangalore, which was acquired in 2019 by Brookfield-backed entities. Toronto-headquartered Brookfield Corp. remains the principal sponsor of Schloss Bangalore. The company is led by Chief Executive Officer Anuraag Bhatnagar.
Founded in 1986 by Capt. C. P. Krishnan Nair, Leela currently operates 13 hotels with 3,544 rooms across 11 cities in India, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Udaipur and Hyderabad. The group has ten properties in the pipeline and plans to expand to 23 hotels with over 5,000 rooms over the next three years, including its first international project in Dubai.
