IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Holiday Inn Express Surat Gauravpath, marking its entry into Surat—one of India’s fastest-growing commercial hubs. The 110-key hotel is scheduled to open in 2029 and will cater to rising business and transit demand in the city.
Strengthening Presence in High-Growth Markets
The signing reinforces IHG’s strategy to expand across high-growth secondary cities in India. Surat, widely known as the Diamond City, continues to witness strong economic momentum driven by industrial growth and infrastructure development. The upcoming hotel will be part of a mixed-use development in the rapidly evolving Gauravpath corridor, positioning it to serve corporate travellers, SMEs, and transit guests.
Brand Positioning and Design Innovation
Holiday Inn Express is IHG’s largest and fastest-growing brand globally, with over 3,200 hotels. Known for its smart and efficient hospitality model, the brand continues to evolve with its Generation 5 design, featuring flexible workspaces, refreshed interiors, and enhanced guest experiences tailored for both business and leisure travellers.

IHG currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India, including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn Resort, with a strong pipeline of 89 hotels set to open over the next 3–5 years.
The Surat signing further strengthens the company’s ambition to build a robust presence across India’s emerging commercial destinations, supported by asset-light partnerships and scalable growth strategies.
