Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has launched a native app within ChatGPT, marking the first such integration by a major economy and midscale hotel franchisor in the US, as the company deepens its push into AI-led travel discovery and booking.
The app enables travellers to explore nearly 8,400 properties globally using conversational prompts, combining map-based navigation, amenity filters and interactive listings within a single interface. Users can then transition seamlessly to Wyndham’s booking platform, creating a more direct path from search to transaction.
The move builds on Wyndham’s broader AI strategy, underpinned by over $450 million in technology investments and a fully cloud-based infrastructure established in 2020. The company has been steadily embedding AI across operations—from call centres to guest engagement platforms—aimed at improving efficiency and unlocking new revenue streams for franchisees.
Early results indicate tangible gains. AI tools have reduced call handling times and improved conversion rates, while platforms like Wyndham Connect are driving incremental revenue through automated upselling and guest interaction. High-performing hotels within the network have reported significant additional revenue through these systems.
The ChatGPT integration also expands Wyndham’s distribution ecosystem, following earlier collaborations with large language model platforms. As travel planning increasingly shifts toward conversational interfaces, the company is positioning itself to capture demand at the discovery stage itself.
For hotel owners, the strategy is clear: lower operating costs, higher direct bookings and improved customer engagement. For travellers, it signals a shift toward more intuitive, personalised and visually driven booking journeys—reshaping how hospitality is accessed in an AI-first environment.
