The Karnataka State Hotels Association (KSHA) has urged the Karnataka government to introduce policy measures aimed at strengthening the state’s hospitality and tourism sector during a meeting with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
Led by KSHA President G.K. Shetty, the delegation highlighted several long-pending issues affecting the hotel and restaurant industry, including taxation, infrastructure, licensing, and skill development. The association sought greater policy support to improve the ease of doing business and enhance Karnataka’s competitiveness as a tourism destination.
Among the key demands was the formulation of a comprehensive tourism policy that supports investments in hospitality infrastructure, encourages sustainable tourism, and promotes destination development across the state. The association also requested simplified regulatory processes, rationalisation of taxes and utility charges, and measures to address rising operational costs impacting hotels and restaurants.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar acknowledged the industry’s contribution to employment generation and economic growth and assured the delegation that the government would examine the issues raised. He emphasised the need to further strengthen Karnataka’s tourism ecosystem while promoting balanced regional development.
The meeting comes at a time when Karnataka’s hospitality industry has been seeking greater policy intervention to address increasing input costs and support sustained growth driven by business travel, leisure tourism, and meetings and events.
