India’s hospitality sector is undergoing a notable digital transformation, with a growing number of mid-market hotel chains adopting cloud-based technology to manage their operations. A recent milestone in this shift has been the move of approximately 400,000 hotel rooms representing over 15% of the country’s total inventory to platforms offered by hospitality technology provider Hotelogix and its distribution arm, AxisRooms.
The adoption reflects broader changes across the industry, where legacy property management systems are being phased out in favor of scalable, cloud-based solutions. These newer systems are particularly attractive to mid-segment hotel groups seeking greater operational control, faster onboarding of new properties, and improved online distribution.
A diverse range of hotel brands have adopted the technology, including Royal Orchid Hotels, Leisure Hotels, The Clarks, Brij Hotels, OYO, Zolostays, Alivaa Hotels & Resorts, Elivaas, Olive Living, and Sterling Holidays. These businesses span multiple categories, from boutique and heritage hotels to budget and co-living accommodations.
Industry observers note that the increased use of integrated cloud platforms is helping these hotels manage growth more efficiently. Centralised control, real-time access to distribution channels, and new AI-driven tools are contributing to more streamlined operations.
As global hotel chains expand their presence in India, local hospitality brands are increasingly turning to digital tools to stay competitive. Recent developments suggest that the trend toward technology adoption will continue, particularly as providers introduce AI-enhanced features aimed at improving service quality and profitability.
The movement also indicates a broader trend toward modernization in India’s hospitality infrastructure, especially among homegrown players striving to keep pace with international standards.
