Hospitality group Accor has signed Fairmont Rishikesh, Himalayas, further expanding its luxury portfolio in India and reinforcing its focus on high-growth leisure and wellness destinations. Scheduled to open in 2031, the resort will be located in the Shivpuri range of Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.
Spread across approximately 16 acres, the project will feature 220 guestrooms, four dining venues, over 3,000 square metres of event space, a spa, fitness centre, swimming pool, kids’ club and a range of curated experiences inspired by the region’s natural and cultural heritage.
The signing comes as Rishikesh continues to attract growing interest from luxury leisure travellers, wellness seekers, destination wedding planners and MICE organisers. Improved connectivity with Delhi-NCR and other key source markets has further enhanced the destination’s appeal, creating opportunities for branded luxury hospitality developments.
Commenting on the development, Ranju Alex, CEO, Accor South Asia, said the project represents another milestone in the strategic expansion of the Fairmont brand in India. She noted that Rishikesh has emerged as one of the country’s most compelling luxury travel destinations where spirituality, wellness and experiential tourism converge.
The project is being developed in partnership with Javi Home Pvt. Ltd., marking the company’s entry into the hospitality sector. Vibhor Jain, Director, Javi Home Pvt. Ltd., said the partnership aims to create a landmark luxury destination that complements Rishikesh’s natural beauty and growing appeal among affluent travellers.
For Accor, the signing further strengthens the presence of the luxury brand Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in India. The group currently operates Fairmont properties in Jaipur, Mumbai and Udaipur, with additional projects under development in Shimla-Fagu, Goa and Agra.
Accor currently operates 75 hotels across India and South Asia spanning luxury, premium, midscale and economy segments, underscoring the group’s continued confidence in the region’s long-term hospitality growth story.
