Bird Foods, the quick-service restaurant arm of the Bird Group, has entered the Maharashtra market with the dual launch of its brands The Indian Stories and Ka-Ching at Commerz III, Oberoi Garden City in Mumbai. The move marks the company’s first presence in the state and signals the beginning of its western India expansion strategy.
Strategic Entry into Corporate Dining Hubs
Located within a prominent corporate and technology hub, the new outlets are designed to cater to Mumbai’s fast-paced professional workforce. The focus is on delivering high-quality, convenient dining options within business districts, aligning with the growing demand for efficient workplace food solutions.
Distinct Brand Offerings
For its Mumbai debut, The Indian Stories introduces a curated South Indian and coastal-forward menu, anchored by its signature Benne Dosa. The concept emphasizes regional storytelling through authentic flavours, bringing traditional southern cuisine into a modern corporate dining environment.
Ka-Ching, on the other hand, offers contemporary Asian cuisine in a quick-service format, strengthening Bird Foods’ multi-brand strategy and appealing to evolving urban taste preferences.
Expansion Strategy and Growth Plans
According to Rahul Sehgal, Business Head at Bird Foods, Mumbai is a key market in the company’s expansion roadmap. The dual-brand format reflects a strategy to cater to diverse dining preferences—combining regional Indian authenticity with global QSR trends.
The company is also exploring opportunities across educational institutions and key expressway corridors, indicating a broader approach to capturing high-footfall, transit-driven locations.
Scaling Presence Across India
With operations across 30 locations, Bird Foods plans to expand further by launching 10 additional outlets by the end of 2026. The Maharashtra entry is part of a larger strategy to scale within premium commercial developments and technology parks in major metropolitan markets.
Catering to Evolving Urban Consumption
As corporate districts and tech hubs continue to expand, demand for quick, high-quality dining within workplaces has grown significantly. Bird Foods aims to address this shift by offering formats that balance speed, quality, and regional authenticity, tailored to the needs of modern professionals.
