Hyatt India is set to transform the country’s hospitality landscape with plans to open 10 hotels annually starting in 2025, targeting 100 properties by 2030. Sunjae Sharma, Managing Director of Hyatt India, announced this ambitious goal alongside the introduction of new brands such as Destination by Hyatt and Standard, catering to a growing demand for tier-2 and leisure destinations.
The hotel industry is thriving, with revenue per available room (RevPAR) seeing a 27-29% jump from pre-Covid levels. Sharma noted that domestic tourism, which constitutes 80% of Hyatt’s clientele, is driving this growth. “We are focusing on tertiary cities and leisure destinations,” he said, highlighting upcoming properties in locations like Bharuch, Jim Corbett, and Pushkar.
Hyatt’s expansion includes lifestyle and leisure luxury brands like Andaz and Alila, with three Alila properties under construction in Igatpuri, Coorg, and Lansdowne. In addition, the company’s asset-light strategy ensures rapid scalability, supported by joint ventures like the one with Juniper for eight hotels.
Sharma also emphasized the booming demand for weddings and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions), which continues to fuel growth. With a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, Hyatt aims to redefine hospitality standards in India.
