JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort has marked its first anniversary, completing a year that has firmly positioned the property as a refined retreat for travellers seeking mindful luxury and meaningful experiences in the Maldives.
Since opening, the resort has focused on creating a sense of presence, purpose, and renewal, offering guests an environment where luxury is deeply personal and rooted in connection—with oneself, with others, and with the surrounding natural beauty of the islands.
To commemorate the milestone, the resort hosted a series of anniversary celebrations for in-house guests, highlighted by a sunset cocktail reception hosted by the General Manager. The evening featured live performances by a local band and a DJ, adding a festive yet intimate touch to the occasion.
Reflecting on the journey, Srikanth Deverapalli, General Manager, said the first year has been driven by intention and passion. He noted that the resort’s vision from inception was to craft an experience where guests could form genuine connections while embracing the restorative spirit of the Maldives. He added that the anniversary is a celebration of the resort’s dedicated team, partners, and guests who have been part of its journey.
The debut year has been marked by strong global recognition. In 2025, the resort was named Indian Ocean’s Leading New Resort and Maldives’ Leading Luxury Island Resort, and received the Best Luxury Island Resort title at the World Luxury Travel Awards. It was also recognised for its family-friendly offerings and for SPA by JW, which earned acclaim for its overwater design and immersive wellness experiences. Additional honours included Best Emerging Resort at the TTM Awards and nominations from DestinAsian and Condé Nast Traveler Middle East. Reinforcing its commitment to responsible tourism, the resort achieved Green Globe certification within its first year of operations.
Wellness has remained central to the resort’s identity, with curated retreats and immersive programmes designed to support balance and renewal. Highlights included Soulful Feasts by Stephanie Zubiri, which focused on gratitude and alignment of body, mind, and spirit, as well as exclusive culinary collaborations such as a two-night dining experience by Michelin-starred Chef Stefan Fath of Restaurant Jellyfish Hamburg. The resort’s inaugural festive season featured bespoke dining under the stars, caviar tastings, wine and cheese pairings, garden-to-table cooking classes, family celebrations, and restorative rituals at SPA by JW.
As it enters its second year, JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort continues to build on its philosophy of thoughtful luxury, curating experiences that encourage mindfulness, deepen connections, and rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit.
