Marriott International has launched “Series by Marriott,” its new midscale-to-upscale hotel brand in India. Partnering with Concept Hospitality, known for its “The Fern” hotels, the collaboration aims to bring Marriott’s global expertise to a thriving Indian market.
With 158 operational hotels and 112 more in the pipeline, India is poised to become Marriott’s third-largest market globally by 2027, trailing only the United States and China. Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International for Asia Pacific (excluding China), shared that India currently ranks fifth, behind Mexico and Canada, but the rapid growth in demand for branded rooms is accelerating its rise.
“India’s hospitality landscape offers immense potential, and our partnership with The Fern allows us to tap into a trusted brand with strong distribution and a 30-year legacy,” Menon said. Marriott has also made an equity investment in Concept Hospitality to strengthen the partnership.
The new brand will operate without rebranding existing Fern hotels, instead focusing on integrating them into Marriott’s global distribution and loyalty programs. India’s booming midscale and upscale hotel segments, coupled with a strong post-pandemic recovery, are key drivers for this expansion.
Marriott’s total operational capacity in India is expected to exceed 50,000 rooms by 2030.
