Srisailam temple executive officer (EO) M. Srinivasa Rao has instructed hotel managements in the temple town to strictly maintain hygiene and food safety standards. Surprise inspections by food inspectors, Revenue, and Sanitation officials will be conducted twice a month to check food quality and cleanliness.
At a meeting held on Wednesday with hotel representatives, Rao warned that penalties would be imposed on those violating norms. Repeated violations may lead to cancellation of hotel leases. He emphasized that food must not be cooked in open areas, stored improperly, or served past safe durations. All ingredients must be fresh and stored hygienically.
The EO also mandated that staff must be above 18 years of age and behave courteously with devotees. Hotels are prohibited from serving food banned under the Endowments Act. Plastic usage is strictly banned; only glass or steel utensils must be used for beverages and water. Dustbins must be placed for proper waste disposal.
Food inspectors urged all hotels to obtain valid FSSAI licences, warning of strict action on receiving complaints. Legal Metrology officials also directed managements to ensure correct pricing as per regulations.
