Summit Hotels & Resorts has announced its entry into India’s fast-growing spiritual tourism segment with the launch of The Mandir Collection, a dedicated hospitality brand focused on pilgrimage destinations and faith-inspired travel experiences.
The move comes as spiritual tourism continues to gain momentum across the country, driven by improved connectivity, government-led infrastructure development, and growing consumer interest in wellness, culture, and religious travel.
As part of the brand’s debut, the company has selected Salasar in Rajasthan for its first property under The Mandir Collection. The upcoming Summit Salasar – The Mandir Collection is being positioned as a premium spiritual retreat designed to serve devotees, leisure travellers, wellness seekers, and families visiting one of India’s prominent pilgrimage destinations.
The proposed development is expected to feature around 70 rooms and villas, including private pool villas, alongside a range of curated experiences inspired by spirituality and Indian traditions. Planned amenities include a Satvik dining concept, temple assistance services, wellness-focused offerings, devotional evening programmes, banquet facilities, outdoor event spaces, and convenient access to the revered Salasar Balaji Temple.
Commenting on the launch, Sumit Mitruka, CEO, Summit Hotels & Resorts, said the company sees significant long-term potential in India’s evolving spiritual tourism landscape.
“Spiritual travel in India is witnessing unprecedented growth, with travellers increasingly seeking experiences that combine faith, wellness, culture and personal enrichment. Through The Mandir Collection, we aim to create hospitality experiences that remain deeply connected to the essence of each destination while delivering the comfort and quality expected by modern travellers,” he said.
According to industry estimates cited by the company, India’s spiritual tourism economy is projected to reach USD 135 billion by 2034, making it one of the country’s most promising travel segments.
Hospitality experts note that pilgrimage destinations are increasingly attracting a broader demographic beyond traditional religious travellers. Improved infrastructure, rising disposable incomes, and growing interest in experiential travel have led to increased demand for organised, quality accommodation options near key spiritual destinations.
Summit Hotels plans to expand The Mandir Collection across major pilgrimage circuits and faith-driven tourism hubs in the coming years. The company is currently evaluating opportunities in destinations such as Haridwar, Ayodhya, and other emerging spiritual tourism markets.
The launch also reflects a wider trend within India’s hospitality sector, where hotel companies are increasingly developing specialised brands tailored to niche travel segments. By entering the spiritual hospitality space, Summit Hotels is positioning itself to capitalise on one of the fastest-growing and most resilient demand drivers in the country’s tourism ecosystem.
With faith-based travel continuing to evolve beyond traditional pilgrimage into a blend of spirituality, wellness, and cultural immersion, The Mandir Collection is expected to strengthen Summit Hotels’ presence across destination-led hospitality formats while tapping into India’s expanding spiritual tourism economy.
