Taj Hotels has been ranked the world’s strongest luxury hotel brand, while Hilton has emerged as the most valuable luxury hotel brand globally, according to Brand Finance’s Hotels 50 2026 report.
Brand Finance’s two parallel rankings measure different aspects of brand performance. Its luxury hotel brand value ranking places Hilton at the top with a brand value of US$19.2 billion, up 28% year-on-year. Hyatt and Marriott follow in second and third positions with brand values of US$7.5 billion and US$4.6 billion, respectively.
Hilton’s strong showing has been attributed to the performance and expansion of its luxury portfolio, which includes Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, LXR Hotels & Resorts and NoMad Hotels, alongside continued growth in key luxury destinations.
Hyatt retained the second position despite a 6% decline in brand value, while Marriott ranked third. Marriott’s luxury portfolio includes Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, JW Marriott and Edition.
The value ranking also includes individual brands across segments, with Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn among the top five. Scandic recorded one of the strongest movements, rising to eighth place from 14th in 2025, while Premier Inn climbed two positions to rank tenth.
The separate Brand Strength Index, which assesses intangible brand performance relative to competitors, delivered a different result.
Taj Hotels topped the luxury category with a Brand Strength Index score of 93.5 out of 100 and an AAA+ rating, making it the world’s strongest luxury hotel brand. Hilton ranked second with a score of 87.1 and an AAA rating, while Marriott took third place with the same numerical score but an AAA- rating.
Brand Finance attributed Taj’s strength to its combination of Indian heritage, luxury positioning and personalised service, alongside its growing international presence.
“Luxury hotel brands continue to outperform by delivering more than premium accommodation,” said Henry Farr, Head of Hotels, Brand Finance. He noted that leading brands were balancing heritage with innovation while investing in personalised service, digital capabilities and operational excellence.
The contrasting rankings underline the distinction between brand scale and brand strength: Hilton leads in financial brand value, while Taj leads on the strength and effectiveness of its luxury brand.
