Ventive Hospitality is deepening its commitment to ocean conservation across its Maldives portfolio, where Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli, Naladhu Private Island, and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island are leading ambitious coral restoration and monitoring initiatives. Through science-led programs and community engagement, the group is actively regenerating reefs that sustain the region’s marine biodiversity and inspire its guests.
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island: A Living Laboratory of Reef Renewal
Encircled by vibrant reefscapes, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island operates one of the Maldives’ most dynamic coral restoration programs. As a PADI Five-Star Dive Resort and Eco Center, the property maintains over 50 coral framessupporting around 2,750 coral fragments under restoration, in addition to 400 fragments planted directly onto the reef and 425 cultivated in mid-water nurseries. In total, 3,575 coral fragments are currently being nurtured.
Over the past year, 80 new fragments were planted in key sections of the house reef, already showing strong regrowth. By the end of 2025, another 40 are expected to be grown and transplanted from the resort’s in-house nursery, which provides ideal mid-water conditions for coral development and acclimatization.
Anantara Dhigu, Veli, and Naladhu: Coral Resilience Through Science
At Anantara Dhigu, Veli, and Naladhu Private Island, coral restoration continues under the Holistic Approach to Reef Protection (HARP), now in its seventh year. Together, the three islands have planted 7,916 corals, with 6,539 successfully outplanted, supported by 78 coral frames and 165 coral ropes. More than 2,422 colonies are under ongoing monitoring, totaling 350 hours of ecological fieldwork. So far, 14,455 coral fragments have been successfully integrated into surrounding reefs.
Led by marine biologist Dr. Oriana Migliaccio, the initiative uses coral nurseries as both research and restoration platforms. Her studies have identified Montipora digitata and Porites cylindrica as more resilient to bleaching events than Acropora species — insights that now guide restoration strategy. “For me, this project is not just a job; it’s a mission from the heart,” Dr. Migliaccio said. “As we say in Italy, la bellezza salverà il mondo — beauty will save the world.”
Sustainable Luxury, Shared Responsibility
“True luxury lies in protecting the natural treasures that surround us,” said Ranjit Batra, CEO, Ventive Hospitality. “By investing in marine science and restoration, we ensure that our guests experience beauty with responsibility — luxury that sustains rather than depletes.”
Guests across all four resorts can also participate in the Adopt a Coral program, planting fragments and receiving updates as their corals grow.
Through its blend of scientific innovation, ecological responsibility, and guest engagement, Ventive Hospitality continues to set a new benchmark for sustainable luxury in the Maldives — ensuring the reefs that define its beauty remain vibrant for generations to come.
