Accor, a global hospitality leader, has partnered with Community Corporate to hire nearly 100 refugees and migrants, showcasing its commitment to inclusivity and diversity. Representing 18 cultural backgrounds, this initiative spans 17 Accor hotels and Qantas lounges across Australia.
With 68% of these roles filled by women, Accor’s effort highlights the transformative impact of inclusive hiring. The initiative provides meaningful employment opportunities while fostering cultural representation. Employees bring 22 languages to iconic properties like Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour and Novotel Sydney Darling Harbour, enriching the guest experience.
Adrian Williams, Chief Operating Officer of Accor Pacific, emphasized, “Hospitality is about people. The diversity they contribute enriches our industry and communities.”
The Australian Institute of Family Studies reports that only 23% of refugees secure employment within two years of arrival. Accor’s program addresses these barriers, offering cultural training, mentorship, and jobs that build confidence and independence.
Accor’s partnership with Community Corporate is expanding. In 2024, they held roadshows in five cities, engaging 500 job seekers. This year, the program extends to Tasmania and the Gold Coast, aiming to hire another 100 refugees by year-end.
This groundbreaking effort is a model for inclusivity, proving that hospitality can bridge gaps and strengthen communities.
