The Ascott Limited, a wholly owned unit of CapitaLand Investment Limited, has signed Citadines Udupi, a 104-key serviced residence in Karnataka’s scenic coastal belt. This marks Ascott’s fourth property in the state and reflects its strategy to scale up across India’s fast-expanding hospitality and lodging market.
Located strategically between Mangaluru (40 km) and Udupi (25 km), the project taps into one of India’s fastest-growing coastal growth corridors. The area combines eco-tourism assets like Blue Flag-certified beaches with industrial hubs such as Suzlon Hi-Tech SEZ, Padubidri Industrial Park, and New Mangalore Port Trust, making it an emerging destination for both leisure and corporate travel.
The upcoming Citadines Udupi will feature flexible serviced apartments with kitchenettes, all-day dining, a fitness centre, and facilities tailored for both short- and long-stay guests—consistent with the Citadines brand’s global reputation for adaptable living.
“India is a priority market for Ascott’s growth in Asia, and Karnataka remains one of our strongest regions. Udupi’s natural beauty and rising industrial ecosystem make it a unique opportunity,” said Hoshang Garivala, Country General Manager, The Ascott Limited.
The project is being developed in partnership with SKS Sunshine. Sudharman Shetty, Director of SKS Sunshine, said the collaboration will bring global hospitality standards to Udupi while showcasing the region’s cultural warmth.
With properties already operational or under development in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Goa, Ascott’s addition of Citadines Udupi underscores its focus on coastal and industrial corridors. The project also aligns with Karnataka’s tourism vision and Ascott’s sustainability commitments, given Udupi’s recognition as a Blue Flag-certified eco-tourism destination.
