A First for Indian Single Malt
Indri Single Malt Whisky has introduced a new chapter in India’s premium spirits landscape with the launch of Indri Rudhira — the country’s first single malt matured in Pineau des Charentes casks. Created in an exclusive collaboration with The Dram Club, the release marks a significant milestone in experimental cask maturation within the Indian whisky segment.
Limited to just 252 individually numbered bottles, the expression positions itself as a rare, collector-focused release within the growing domestic single malt category.
Crafting a New Maturation Narrative
Produced in the village of Indri in Haryana, the whisky introduces a maturation style previously unexplored in India. By utilising Pineau des Charentes casks—traditionally associated with fortified wine—the expression brings a distinctive interplay of fruit, sweetness and oak complexity.
The whisky is lightly peated and bottled at 50% ABV, resulting in a profile that balances smoke with layered fruit and spice notes. This approach reflects a broader shift in Indian whisky-making toward experimentation and global benchmarking.
Designed for Collectors and Connoisseurs
Indri Rudhira has been conceptualised as a limited-edition release aimed at enthusiasts seeking rarity and craftsmanship. Its small batch size and distinctive maturation process place it within a niche segment of high-value, collectible Indian spirits.
The collaboration with The Dram Club further reinforces its positioning within a community-driven, enthusiast-focused ecosystem, where storytelling and exclusivity play a key role in product appeal.
Tasting Profile Rooted in Complexity
The whisky opens with layered aromas of orchard fruits, honeyed sweetness and subtle floral notes, complemented by gentle peat smoke. On the palate, it delivers a full-bodied experience with caramelised fruit, vanilla and warm spice, balanced by oak and a soft smokiness. The finish is long and refined, leaving behind a lingering sweetness with a delicate smoky trail.
Reflecting India’s Evolving Whisky Landscape
The launch of Indri Rudhira underscores the rapid evolution of India’s single malt segment, where innovation, limited releases and experimental techniques are gaining prominence. As consumer preferences shift toward premium and craft experiences, such expressions highlight the growing confidence of Indian brands in pushing the boundaries of traditional whisky-making.
Available in Bengaluru at ₹12,500, the release caters to a discerning audience, further cementing India’s position in the global conversation around premium single malts.
