First Anantara Resort and Urban Hotel in India
Minor Hotels has announced the signing of two new luxury properties in India under its Anantara Hotels & Resorts brand—Anantara Zanti Coorg Resort and Anantara Kolkata Hotel. These projects mark the brand’s debut in India with its first resort and first urban hotel.
Anantara Zanti Coorg Resort Set for 2028 Launch
Scheduled to open in 2028 near Madikeri in Coorg, Karnataka, the 69-key Anantara Zanti Coorg Resort will be located in the UNESCO-recognized Western Ghats. Designed by renowned Sri Lankan architect Channa Daswatte, the resort will reflect the region’s natural beauty, coffee heritage, and Kodava culture.
The property will feature four dining venues, a swimming pool, lobby lounge and library, Anantara Spa and wellness centre, fitness facilities, meeting and event spaces, and a kids’ club. The resort is owned by Zanti Hospitality.
Anantara Kolkata Hotel to Anchor Mixed-Use Development
The 170-key Anantara Kolkata Hotel is expected to open in 2032 as part of the World Trade Center Salt Lake Kolkata, a mixed-use development. Positioned to cater to business and MICE demand, the hotel will include two restaurants, a lobby lounge, flexible event spaces, a spa and wellness centre, gym, and swimming pool.
The development is a joint venture between Aryan Realty and Merlin Group.
Strengthening India Growth Strategy
These signings build on Minor Hotels’ growing presence in India, following the launch of Anantara Jewel Bagh Jaipur in 2025 and the signing of Avani+ Sunray Beach Visakhapatnam Resort.
The company is targeting a portfolio of 50 properties in India over the next decade, spanning leisure destinations and key urban markets. Its expansion strategy includes a mix of luxury and premium brands such as Anantara, Avani, and NH Collection, alongside select-service offerings like NH, Oaks, and iStay.
With a focus on management agreements and franchise models, Minor Hotels is also leveraging new platforms such as the Minor Reserve Collection and Colbert Collection to partner with independent hotel owners.
