The Telangana Association of Educators in Culinary and Hospitality (TEACH), comprising colleges affiliated with Osmania University, organised a conclave titled ‘Hotel Management and Culinary Arts – Gateway to Global Careers’ in Hyderabad to promote hospitality education and create awareness about career opportunities in the sector.
The initiative brought together students, parents, educators and career counsellors to discuss the growing demand for skilled professionals in hospitality and culinary arts, while highlighting the industry’s expanding global employment prospects.
Osmania University, through its Faculty of Technology, has been offering professional hospitality degree programmes for over three decades, with 16 affiliated colleges currently delivering hotel management and culinary education.
Addressing the conclave, Prof. Kumar Molugaram, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University, said Telangana has significant untapped hospitality potential despite having only 23 five-star hotels, compared with Kerala, which has the highest number among Indian states.
Industry representatives also highlighted Hyderabad’s emerging position as a hospitality investment destination. Raj Bhattacharya, Director of Sales and Marketing, Radisson Blu Hotels, noted that several international hotel brands are actively evaluating expansion opportunities in the city, driven by its growing business and tourism ecosystem.
Speaking on tourism’s growth potential, Chef Amey Marathe, President, Telangana Chefs Association (TCA), pointed to the gap between India’s international tourist arrivals and leading global destinations, underscoring the need to strengthen hospitality infrastructure and develop skilled talent.
Saka Sudha Kumar, President, TEACH, said the association serves as a consortium of Osmania University-affiliated hotel management colleges, working to enhance industry-academia collaboration and promote hospitality as a viable career choice.
The conclave reinforced the importance of industry engagement, skill development and academic collaboration in preparing the next generation of hospitality professionals to meet the sector’s evolving workforce requirements.
