EkoStay has emerged as a leader in India’s premium vacation rental space, hosting over 1.5 million guests across 150+ curated villas and homestays in 15+ destinations. Founded in 2018 by Husain Khatumdi, Varun Arora, Sohail Mirchandani, and Zishan Khan, EkoStay has revolutionized the homestay market with design-led, tech-enabled experiences tailored to modern Indian travelers.
Starting with 10 properties in Lonavala, the brand expanded to Goa and other weekend destinations by 2019, managing 23 properties in 4 cities. The pandemic in 2020 accelerated its growth as EkoStay doubled its inventory to 40 properties across 6 locations, cementing its reputation as a staycation favorite.
EkoStay reached 70 properties across 10 locations by 2021, including hill stations and coastal escapes. A significant 2022 pivot into luxury villas and new markets brought their portfolio to 90 properties in 12 destinations. In 2023, EkoStay introduced food services, enhancing guest experiences, and scaled to 110+ properties.
In 2024, the company rebranded, launched a proprietary service app, and achieved 150+ properties in 15+ destinations.
“We’re bridging the gap between unorganized homestays and luxury hospitality,” said Co-Founder & CEO Varun Arora. “Our journey has just begun.”
