Set within a historic residence once home to courtiers of Buckingham Palace, Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences, London combines residential-style accommodation with Taj’s hospitality. Its signature Cinema Suite and Jaguar Suite bring together heritage, design and craftsmanship.
Designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, the Cinema Suite draws on the golden eras of Hollywood and Indian cinema, featuring vintage collectibles, rare film memorabilia and curated interiors. The study takes inspiration from filmmakers including Satyajit Ray, Francis Ford Coppola and Ingmar Bergman, while the living room references directors such as Majidi, Wong Kar-Wai and Pedro Almodóvar. The bedrooms reflect the glamour of Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe, alongside Indian cinematic influences including Guru Dutt and Merchant Ivory. The suite also houses a library of more than 300 films.
The Jaguar Suite, described as the world’s only Jaguar Suite, is a collaboration between Taj and Jaguar. Designed by former Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum, the suite incorporates automotive-inspired artwork and materials associated with Jaguar cars, including leather, metal and high-gloss veneer. Design elements include an automotive-inspired fireplace, ebony veneer doors and custom Jaguar wallpaper, complemented by Jaguar motifs and collector’s pieces.
Together, the suites highlight the property’s focus on integrating art, design, culture and history into the guest experience.
