In a bid to improve service quality and revive underperforming assets, the Himachal Pradesh government has approved the leasing of 14 loss-making hotels run by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) on an operation and maintenance (O&M) basis.
The decision, first cleared in a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, was formalised during the HPTDC Board of Directors meeting. It is aimed at revitalising these properties while enhancing the overall tourism experience in the state.
Officials say the move will ensure better upkeep and services at these hotels, which have been struggling financially. The Principal Secretary (Tourism) has directed the HPTDC Managing Director to implement the plan within three months.
Hotels identified for O&M operations include Hotel Hill Top Swarghat, Hotel Lakeview Bilaspur, Hotel Apple Blossom Fagu, Hotel Shivalik Parwanoo, Kashmir House Dharamshala, and 9 others across key tourist locations.
The government expects that outsourcing operations will lift service standards, attract more visitors, and reduce financial strain on HPTDC—ultimately boosting tourism-driven economic growth in Himachal Pradesh.
