Programme trains hospitality professionals on hygiene and safety standards
In a bid to strengthen food safety standards in the hospitality sector, the Hotel And Restaurant Association Western India(HRAWI) conducted the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s Food Safety Supervisor Training in Advance Catering (FoSTaC) programme in Goa.
The training session, held on March 27 at The Byke Old Anchor, brought together 31 hospitality professionals and focused on critical aspects such as food handling, hygiene, sanitation and waste management. The programme was conducted by Dr V. Pasupathy, who provided practical insights aimed at improving compliance and operational standards across food service establishments.
Industry focus
The FoSTaC programme is part of a broader initiative by FSSAI to institutionalise food safety practices across the hospitality and food services industry. It aims to equip professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain high standards in daily operations.
Capacity building
HRAWI, which has been actively promoting such initiatives, has trained and certified 3,804 hospitality professionals through FoSTaC and FSSAI’s Management Training Programme so far.
Industry stakeholders note that with increasing regulatory scrutiny and consumer awareness around food safety, such training programmes are becoming essential for ensuring compliance as well as building trust among customers.
