The Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) (HRAWI) organised the latest Food Safety Supervisor Training in Advance Catering (FoSTaC) programme at Hotel Manoshanti in Goa on July 14, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen food safety practices across the hospitality industry.
Conducted by Praveen Andrews, Trainer at Parikshan FSS Pvt. Ltd., the programme covered key aspects of food safety, including food handling, hygiene, sanitation and waste management. The session saw participation from 30 hospitality professionals, providing practical guidance on regulatory compliance and operational best practices.
The training programme was inaugurated by Praveen Andrews and Trupti Pawar, Secretary General, HRAWI.
Commenting on the initiative, Jimmy Shaw, President, HRAWI, said food safety remains fundamental to maintaining guest trust and operational excellence. He noted that the association has consistently prioritised FoSTaC training and has trained the highest number of hospitality professionals through the programme among hospitality trade associations in India.
According to HRAWI, the association has so far trained and certified 3,921 hospitality professionals through FoSTaC and FSSAI’s Management Training Programme. The initiative aims to promote a culture of food safety within the hospitality sector by equipping professionals with updated knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene standards and operational practices.
The programme comes at a time when food safety has become an increased area of focus for regulators, with authorities across several states stepping up inspections and compliance measures for hotels, restaurants and food service establishments.
