Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced the signing of The Landmark Kanpur, which will join the JdV by Hyatt brand, furthering Hyatt’s strategic expansion of its lifestyle portfolio in India. Owned by Som Datt Landmark Hotels and Recreations Private Limited, the 170-key hotel is slated to open in early 2026 in one of Kanpur’s most prestigious neighborhoods.
The signing underscores Hyatt’s commitment to growing its collection of independent, experience-driven hotels in high-potential Indian cities. The Landmark Kanpur will feature 170 rooms, a full-service spa, four dining outlets, versatile meeting and event spaces, and a 7,200-square-foot lawn located on the 21st floor—catering to both corporate and social gatherings. The property is being carefully restored and reimagined to align with the design ethos and elevated guest experience of the JdV by Hyatt brand, a portfolio of vibrant, neighborhood-rooted hotels that embody joie de vivre (the joy of life).
“We’re delighted to welcome The Landmark Kanpur to the JdV by Hyatt family,” said Dhruva Rathore, Vice President, Real Estate & Development, India & South West Asia, Hyatt. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to working with exceptional local partners to deliver distinct lifestyle experiences in dynamic markets. Building on The Landmark’s longstanding reputation in Kanpur, we are excited to take this property to new heights.”
Vikas Malhotra, Managing Director, Som Datt Landmark Hotels and Recreations Private Limited, added: “As Kanpur’s first and only five-star hotel, The Landmark has always set benchmarks in the city’s hospitality landscape. Joining the JdV by Hyatt brand marks an exciting new chapter—one that blends Hyatt’s global standards with our deep local legacy to deliver a truly reimagined guest experience.”
