Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has expanded its footprint in Bhutan with the opening of Taj Gangtey Resort & Spa in Phobjikha, in partnership with CG Hospitality Global and Happiness Resort & Spa.
The 35-key luxury resort is set in the pristine Phobjikha Valley, one of Bhutan’s most scenic glacial landscapes, known for its open meadows, monasteries and rich biodiversity. The opening strengthens IHCL’s presence in the subcontinent and aligns with its strategy to grow in culturally rich leisure destinations.
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO, IHCL, said the new property reflects the company’s focus on expanding across neighbouring markets with high tourism appeal. He added that Bhutan’s blend of nature and culture makes it a key destination for IHCL’s luxury portfolio.
Designed to reflect the serenity of its surroundings, Taj Gangtey Resort & Spa offers immersive experiences rooted in local culture and wellness. The resort features two dining venues, a J Wellness Circle Spa, an indoor heated swimming pool, fitness facilities and curated experiences such as monastery walks, nature trails and crane-spotting excursions.
Dr. Binod Chaudhary, Chairman, CG Corp Global, and Rahul Chaudhary, MD & CEO, CG Hospitality Global, said the collaboration with IHCL brings a hospitality offering that respects the destination’s natural environment and cultural heritage.
Anan Gurung, CEO, Happiness Resort & Spa, noted that the partnership with Taj aims to showcase Bhutan’s cultural depth and Himalayan spirit through a refined luxury experience.
With this addition, the IHCL–CG Hospitality partnership now spans key destinations across Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and the Middle East, further strengthening its presence across the subcontinent and adjoining markets.
