Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has strengthened its presence in Bihar with the opening of Ginger Siwan, Chapra Road, marking the brand’s entry into the western Bihar city and reinforcing its focus on expanding across emerging Tier II and Tier III markets.
The newly opened 30-key hotel is positioned to cater to growing demand from business travellers, social events and regional commerce in Siwan, a key trading and agricultural hub in the state.
Commenting on the launch, Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President, Select Service Business, IHCL, said Siwan’s role as an important commercial centre, coupled with ongoing infrastructure development and connectivity to surrounding towns, is driving steady travel demand.
“The opening of Ginger Siwan, Chapra Road is in line with our strategy to grow our presence in Tier II markets,” she said.
The property features Ginger’s lean-luxe accommodation format and includes Qmin, IHCL’s all-day dining brand, offering a mix of local and international cuisine. The hotel also houses banquet and event facilities designed to cater to weddings, social functions, conferences and corporate gatherings.
For IHCL, the opening aligns with its broader growth strategy of deepening its presence beyond metro markets through its select-service brands. The company recently consolidated its non-luxury portfolio under a dedicated Select Service Business vertical, encompassing Ginger, Tree of Life, amã Stays & Trails and Qmin.
Shibli Siddiqui, Managing Director of Shibli Continental Pvt. Ltd., said the partnership brings the city’s first branded hospitality offering to Siwan.
Located in western Bihar, Siwan is known for its agricultural economy and cultural heritage. Industry observers note that rising infrastructure investments, improving road connectivity and growing business activity are increasingly attracting branded hotel operators to smaller cities across the state.
The opening reflects a broader trend in India’s hospitality sector, where hotel companies are accelerating expansion into underserved regional markets to tap emerging demand and build early market leadership in high-growth destinations.
