Crowne Plaza Resort Sohna Strengthens NCR Hospitality
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of a new Crowne Plaza resort in Sohna, Gurgaon NCR, in partnership with Harisons Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd.. Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2029, the development marks another step in IHG’s premium expansion strategy across India.
Strategically located near Sohna, close to Palwal, the resort is positioned within a 70-minute drive from Indira Gandhi International Airport, enhancing its accessibility for both domestic and international travellers.
Sohna Emerges as a Wedding and MICE Destination
The signing reflects the growing importance of Sohna as a high-potential hospitality corridor within the National Capital Region. With increasing demand for destination weddings, social celebrations and corporate offsites, the region is witnessing a shift toward large-format resorts designed to host experiential events.
As Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, stated,
“Sohna represents a compelling growth opportunity, situated within a high-potential corridor defined by sustained wedding and social celebrations demand, alongside expanding corporate activity, making it an ideal fit for our Crowne Plaza brand. We are confident this resort will deliver exceptional experiences for guests while generating long-term value for our partners, M/s. Harisons Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd.”
Premium Resort Design Meets Experiential Hospitality
Once operational, the resort will feature 150 contemporary rooms designed to balance comfort, connectivity and flexibility—key attributes for today’s hybrid business and leisure travellers.
The planning includes four dining venues, ranging from an all-day dining restaurant to a specialty outlet and bar, alongside a lobby lounge. Complementing these are expansive banqueting and meeting spaces, positioning the property as a comprehensive destination for weddings and MICE events.
Lifestyle Amenities Define Full-Service Offering
The resort’s design extends beyond accommodation and events to include wellness and recreation-focused amenities such as a spa, health club, swimming pool and indoor and outdoor leisure areas.
This integrated approach reflects a broader trend in resort development, where hospitality assets are conceived as multi-functional environments catering to leisure, social and corporate segments simultaneously.
Partnership Signals Long-Term Market Confidence
In a joint statement, Rajesh Gupta and Raman Gupta, Directors, Harisons Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd., said,
“Our partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts reflects a shared ambition to create a unique hospitality destination in Palwal. Backed by IHG’s global systems, brand recognition and operational expertise, we are confident the resort will attract both domestic and international travellers while delivering long-term value to the region’s hospitality landscape.”
Expanding Premium Hospitality Footprint in India
The signing reinforces IHG’s aggressive growth trajectory in India, where it currently operates 51 hotels across brands such as Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express.
With a pipeline of 89 additional hotels set to open over the next 3–5 years, developments like the Sohna resort underline the company’s focus on tapping emerging destinations and high-demand micro-markets.
NCR’s Resort Market Enters a New Phase
The Crowne Plaza Resort Gurgaon Sohna highlights how the NCR hospitality landscape is evolving beyond traditional city hotels into destination-driven resorts.
As demand for weddings, experiential stays and corporate retreats continues to grow, projects like this are expected to redefine how hospitality infrastructure is planned in and around India’s largest urban regions.
