Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated Kaziranga Heritage, a new heritage hospitality destination located near Kaziranga National Park. The project has been developed through a Public–Private Partnership between Assam Tourism Development Corporation and Centre Point Hospitality Group, marking a key milestone in strengthening Assam’s eco and heritage tourism infrastructure.
Set amid the floodplains shaped by the Brahmaputra River and the Kohora River, the property has been designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings. At the centre of the estate stands Bonani Bungalow, a historic structure with guest records dating back to 1938, making it one of the earliest hospitality sites linked to Kaziranga’s tourism history. Built in the traditional Assam-type architectural style, the bungalow features raised plinths, deep verandahs and steep sloping roofs suited to the region’s climate and seasonal floods.
Kaziranga Heritage offers 28 rooms across heritage-inspired spaces including Bonani Bungalow, Bonoshree cultural rooms, Kohora River View cottages and Kunjobon luxury suites. The estate also features a 48-seat restaurant serving traditional Assamese cuisine prepared using wood-fired techniques. Integrating regional art, history and cultural influences, the property aims to offer visitors an immersive hospitality experience that reflects the ecological and cultural legacy of Kaziranga.
