Kerala Tourism has announced a waiver on parking fees at select state-managed tourism destinations, aiming to enhance visitor convenience and boost tourism. The initiative, introduced by Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas, is part of the state’s broader strategy to position Kerala as a tourist-friendly destination and attract more travelers.
This exemption applies to key attractions such as Varkala Beach, Thekkady, and Munnar, where parking fees at government-managed facilities will no longer be charged. However, private parking facilities remain outside the purview of this policy.
“This measure is designed to improve the overall experience for visitors and strengthen Kerala’s appeal as a premier travel destination,” said Minister Riyas. The initiative is also expected to stimulate local economies by drawing more tourists to these popular sites.
In addition to the fee waiver, the Tourism Department is working to upgrade infrastructure at these locations. Plans include expanding parking capacities, improving signage, and enhancing amenities to ensure a seamless experience for travelers.
With this move, Kerala aims to solidify its reputation as “God’s Own Country,” offering unparalleled hospitality and convenience for both domestic and international tourists. Local businesses anticipate an uptick in tourism-related activities as a result.
