Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is strengthening its airline-support infrastructure with a dedicated TajSATS flight kitchen, currently serving more than 40 departing flights a day and producing up to 7,500 meals daily. The facility has been designed to scale its production capacity to 15,000 meals a day as airline operations and passenger traffic increase.
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is expanding its airline-support infrastructure ahead of the Winter Schedule 2026-27, which begins on 25 October 2026. The airport’s dedicated flight kitchen, operated by TajSATS, is supporting the catering requirements of domestic and international carriers operating from the airport.
Located within the airport precinct, the facility currently serves more than 40 departing flights daily, with a production capacity of 7,500 meals a day. This can be scaled to 15,000 meals daily in line with the growth in flight movements and passenger volumes.
“As NMIA expands its airline network, it is important that our supporting infrastructure grows with it. The TajSATS flight kitchen gives airlines the flexibility to meet rising demand and enhances the culinary experience for passengers,” said Subhash Murikenchery, Chief Airport Officer, Navi Mumbai International Airport.
The facility has been equipped with scalable production infrastructure, modern refrigeration systems and processes designed to respond to changes in airline schedules and demand. Its location within the airport precinct also enables meal delivery to departing aircraft.
For international carriers operating to and from India, the facility provides local meal-uplift capabilities, allowing airlines to manage part of their catering requirements closer to the point of departure. According to NMIA, around 40% of international carriers operating from India rely on back catering from their own flight kitchens.
The facility is also equipped to cater to diverse dietary requirements, including special meals, allergen-sensitive menus and halal meals.
Built for Scale
The TajSATS flight kitchen has a production capacity of 7,500 meals per day, scalable to 15,000 meals. It provides catering support to domestic and international airlines and offers local meal-uplift capabilities for international carriers.
The facility’s location within the airport precinct is aimed at enabling efficient aircraft servicing, while its production and refrigeration systems support the handling, storage and dispatch of meals.
Quality and Safety
The kitchen follows food safety and quality requirements under Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), ISO 22000 and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) standards.
Quality-control processes cover food preparation, handling, storage and dispatch to maintain consistency in hygiene, freshness and food quality.
TajSATS has more than four decades of experience in aviation catering and also operates the flight kitchen at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai.
With its current capacity and scope for further expansion, the TajSATS facility is positioned to support NMIA’s growing airline operations as the airport expands its network and passenger traffic.
