Hyderabad and its surrounding regions, including Medchal, Malkajgiri, and Rangareddy, account for nearly 50% of the state’s beer consumption. State officials anticipated the surge and began production planning in February, allowing breweries to run extra shifts and operate on Sundays to meet demand.
Despite recent price hikes, beer sales remain strong. In the low-price segment, Kingfisher dominates with a 65–70% market share, followed by Knockout and Haywards. Premium brands like Budweiser, Corona, and Carlsberg are top choices in the ₹230-plus range.
Interestingly, while beer consumption has surged, sales of hard liquor have dropped by 5% compared to last year. With summer temperatures continuing to rise, Telangana’s love for chilled beer is only expected to grow further.
