HRAWI applauds Govt of Goa in boosting sustainable pilgrimage tourism

The Hotel And Restaurant Association (Western India) – HRAWI appreciated the Government of Goa for its constructive initiative in introducing Regenerative Tourism, a parallel circuit consisting of eleven places of worship. The innovative approach, spearheaded by Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, marks a significant leap forward in redefining Goa’s tourism landscape and has the potential to bring about transformative benefits for the State, its citizens and the local economy. The Association has applauded the initiative for immense potential it holds in attracting tourists interested in exploring offbeat destinations and cultural heritage. This, in turn, opens up opportunities for sustainable pilgrimage tourism, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Goa’s rich cultural tapestry.
“Regenerative Tourism, as unveiled by the Goa Tourism Ministry, is a commendable step towards diversifying tourism beyond the beaches, showcasing the State’s lesser-known places, cultural heritage and history. It has the power to attract a new breed of travellers who are keen on immersing themselves in the authentic essence of a destination. This move aligns with the values of responsible tourism, offering Goa the opportunity to showcase its hidden gems while benefiting all stakeholders in the tourism industry. We appreciate the Hon’ble Tourism Minister’s foresight in creating a parallel tourism circuit that caters to the growing interests of tourists seeking unique experiences,” said, Pradeep Shetty, President, HRAWI.
HRAWI has further stated, with an increasing number of hospitality establishments adopting eco-friendly and green initiatives; Regenerative Tourism presents an opportunity for the evolution of a new generation of hotels and restaurants in Goa.
“The hospitality industry in Goa has the potential to embrace a sustainable and eco-conscious ethos, contributing to the preservation of the region’s delicate ecosystems. This is in line with global trends in responsible hospitality and positions Goa as a frontrunner in the paradigm shift. We look forward to collaborating with the Goa Government in promoting and implementing Regenerative Tourism, believing that the initiative will not only boost tourism but also promote sustainable economic growth, cultural preservation and environmental conservation in the State,” concludes Nirav Gandhi, Sr. Vice President, HRAWI.
