Accor has marked its entry into Odisha’s capital with the opening of Novotel Bhubaneswar, the first internationally branded hotel in the Temple City and the group’s debut property in Bhubaneswar. The launch strengthens Accor’s expansion strategy in Eastern India as the city continues to emerge as a key destination for business, tourism, sports and large-scale social events.
Strategically located near Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Kalinga Stadium and the city’s major commercial districts, the 118-room hotel is positioned to cater to both corporate and leisure travellers. The property also offers convenient access to cultural landmarks, including the iconic Lingaraj Temple, reinforcing Bhubaneswar’s growing appeal as a business and heritage tourism destination.
The hotel features a mix of Superior Rooms, Executive Rooms and suites designed for business travellers, families and extended stays. In line with Novotel’s global “Longevity Everyday” philosophy, the property integrates wellness, connectivity and flexible spaces aimed at enhancing guest experiences through balanced dining, quality sleep, fitness and collaborative environments.
Beyond accommodation, the hotel offers nearly 12,000 sq. ft. of event and social spaces, targeting the city’s expanding weddings, conferences and corporate meetings market. With demand for organised MICE infrastructure increasing across tier-II cities, the property is expected to strengthen Bhubaneswar’s position as an emerging meetings and events destination.
The food and beverage offering includes Food Exchange, the all-day dining restaurant serving international and regional cuisine; Tea & Tonic, a casual lounge for beverages and light bites; and E2O – East Essence, Pan Asian Kitchen & Bar, which focuses on Asian cuisine in a contemporary setting. Recreational facilities include a modern fitness centre aligned with the brand’s wellness proposition.
Commenting on the launch, Neelabh Sahay, General Manager, Novotel Bhubaneswar Janpath, said, “Novotel Bhubaneswar reflects the city’s growing prominence as a destination for business, tourism, sports and social celebrations. As the first Accor hotel and the first internationally branded hospitality destination in the Temple City, the opening marks another important milestone in Accor’s expansion across Eastern India.”
He added, “Guided by Novotel’s Longevity Everyday philosophy, we look forward to welcoming guests with thoughtful hospitality, intuitive design, balanced dining and spaces that encourage connection, helping every stay become an opportunity to live longer, fuller and happier lives.”
The opening comes as Bhubaneswar witnesses sustained infrastructure development and rising demand for quality hospitality assets driven by corporate investments, sporting events and cultural tourism. For Accor, the property further expands its presence in India’s fast-growing secondary markets while strengthening Novotel’s position in the country’s midscale hospitality segment.
