Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has started 2026 on a strong note, adding 29 new member properties to its growing global portfolio in the first quarter alone. With this expansion, the luxury boutique hotel brand now crosses 700 hotels across 100 countries, reflecting the rising global demand for intimate, experience-led and independently designed stays.
The latest additions span across Europe, Asia, North America and South America, bringing together heritage retreats, wellness escapes, wildlife lodges and lifestyle resorts. New openings include The Grace Hotel in Ireland, Casa Caprile in Italy and Eight Venezia in Venice, while India continues to emerge as a significant market within the portfolio.
Among the notable Indian additions is Rhino and River Wildlife Retreat & Spa in Assam, blending wildlife experiences with indigenous wellness traditions. Dharana at Shillim near Pune also strengthens SLH’s wellness-focused luxury offering through immersive sustainability and wellbeing programmes spread across 2,500 acres. Himalayan retreats including Lchang Nang Retreat in Nubra Valley, Dolkhar Ladakh and Terrah Hills Resort in Dalhousie further highlight growing international interest in experiential Indian hospitality.
SLH’s expansion also signals the increasing popularity of smaller luxury properties that focus on personalised experiences over scale. From overwater villas in Indonesia and boutique Nile cruises in Egypt to heritage estates in Romania and Argentina, the portfolio reflects changing traveller preferences centred around authenticity, local culture and emotional connection.
The company’s continued momentum follows a strong 2025 and underlines how boutique luxury is evolving beyond traditional city hotels into immersive, design-driven and sustainability-conscious hospitality experiences.
